The Story

The Story is an abridged, chronological Bible that reads like a novel. There are no verse references, and Scripture segments are seamlessly woven together with transition text into a single grand narrative. For those intimidated or overwhelmed by the unabridged Bible, The Story helps people understand God’s Word more fully and engage with it more easily.  Simple, accessible, and easy to use, people are finding The Story is a powerful way to engage reading the Bible like never before. As The Story brings the Bible to life, the broad scope of God’s message will penetrate hearts. People of all ages will be swept up in the story of God’s love and God’s plan for their lives.”


Each week, we hear a message based on a chapter in the book.  We will post a Reading Schedule for you to follow along with us for 2019.  Each week will post a  Study Guide Resources to help you get the most from your reading. Everyone is encouraged to join a missional community or Journey Group to explore additional questions and answers that come up from the messages and readings.

  • Discussion Questions

    1. Week of Jan. 6 - This week we look at Chapter 1 of The Story, which deals with God’s good creation, humanity’s choice to reject God and go our own way, and the implications of that choice.
    2. Week of Jan. 13 - Chapter 2 God has a plan to build a nation.  His plan is a complete shocker...and through surprising people. 
    3. Week of Jan. 20 - Chapter 3 God continues to partner with people to carry out God’s redemptive plan. Here we look closely at the story of Joseph, Jacob’s favorite son, who is betrayed by his jealous brothers and sold into slavery. 
    4. Week of January 27 - Chapter 4  starts the second book of the Bible-Exodus, which continues the story of God's redemptive plan through God's chosen people. 
    5. Week of February 3 - This week we look at parts of two rather difficult books to read – Numbers and Deuteronomy, as we explore the Isrealites journey through the desert and Moses farewell discourse.
    6. Week of February 10 - This week we look at parts of two rather difficult books to read – Numbers and Deuteronomy, as we explore the Israelites journey through the desert and Moses farewell discourse. If you don’t have The Story book, you can read chapters 10-14, 20-21, 25 and 27 in Numbers and chapters 1-2, 4, 6, 8-9, 29-32 and 34 in Deuteronomy. 
    7. Week of February 17 - If you don't have "The Story" book, you can read Joshua chapters 1-2, 6, 8, 10-11 and 23-24.
    8. Week of February 24 - This week we look at the book of Judges, which describes how Israel enters into multiple cycles of behavior in which they chose their own paths over God’s path. Also in this chapter God uses some amazingly flawed people to further God’s purposes. If you don’t have The Story book, you can read Judges chapters 2-4, 6- 8, and 13-16.
